Debbie Downers be Damned

Remember when I questioned the benefits of Lululemon and you guys had really strong opinions about it?  And then remember how I said to forget about that?  And then remember when 2 seconds ago I started talking about it again?  Hmmm.

Well over the weekend I rented the first season of Downton Abbey.  After reading about a thousand and one of you loving it I felt extremely behind the times having not seen it.  Then I happened upon it in Red Box, and JMan was out of town so I he wouldn't have to complain about it, so I figured it was perfect timing for a Downton Abbey marathon.

Well I tried, I really did.  Kind of.  But it just wasn't for me.  I have ADD, have I mentioned that?  I have serious issues paying attention to things.  95% of things bore me.  That's why I'm always doing 5 things at once and giving none of them my full attention and effort.  I watched two episodes.  And that is all.  Sorry folks, I'm just not who you want me to be.  I'm going to try 50 Shades of Grey but if I hate that too I fear I may be banned from the blog world forever.

So before I become a complete Debbie Downer, hater of all things loved by bloggers and America in general, I figured I'd make a list of 5 things I DO love.  Maybe you love these things too and we can bond over those commonalities?

1)  Blizzards.  Particularly with cookie dough inside.  Salmonella be damned.

How I love thee, let me count the ways.

2)  Creamer.  I consider myself a sort of 'creamer connoisseur', and enjoy taste testing all of the creamers in the world.  Yeah yeah yeah, it's all chemicals and it's horrible for me.  But it's one of those luxuries that just makes life worth living.  If loving creamer is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Coffee-Mate is my brand of choice, and holiday flavors are definitely the best.  Eggnog Latte is my absolute favorite.  I am also pleased they are now carrying Peppermint Mocha year round.

3)  Lost.  Oh, it's off the air?  Since the series ended I have felt a hole in my heart that can only be filled by Lost - no other show has captivated my attention or made me look forward to TV as much as that show.  It was just so impressively smart and calculated.  I will never forget the day my head exploded during the Season 3 finale.  Wait wait wait.  It's a flash... FORWARD?!

I would have SO much more to blog about it if Lost was still on the air.  Remember when we were all like OH MY GOSH WHO IS IN THE COFFIN??!!!

4)  Chocolate labs.  Especially if their names are Cooper.  But most dogs will do.  Preferably if they're puppies.  Kittens are okay too.

How adorable is this?  That was when Cat was still cute and not evil

5)  Snorkeling.  I LOVE snorkeling and need to have a snorkeling trip planned to look forward to.  Sea Turtles and I are best friends.  I've snorkeled on Maui, Oahu, the Big Island, Cabo, the Cayman Islands, and Bali.  I swam with sea turtles on all 3 Hawaiian island (I better plan a trip to Kauai to fill the Hawaii card!), sting rays in Cayman, and a World War II shipwreck in Bali.  Cabo was definitely the most forgettable of the snorkeling experiences.  Bali was probably the most memorable.  Or the sting rays, because they were TERRIFYING.

An adorable sea turtle in Kona

Which of these 5 loves can you bond with me over?  Or will your love for Downton Abbey forever make the odds not be in my favor?

I have never seen Downtown Abbey and was bored by Shades of Grey

I do love creamer and dogs and cats and blizzards.!
My recent post Three Things Thursday
I couldn't get into 50 Shades... tried, really did, since everyone I know loved it, and insisted that I, the English major/book nerd HAD to read it... I got about 2/3 through and still couldn't identify with the characters (which is a major book FAIL). I love Downton Abbey, though, but probably because I'm always sewing while I watch it, or doing other things, and more listening than actually watching 90% of the time.
Sea turtles ROCK! I was lucky enough to get to hold a baby sea turtle in Japan when they were being released. It was amazing!

I'm trying to read 50 shades now and totally don't like it! Glad I'm not the only one!
I love Downton Abbey but never made it through an episode of Lost. So I'd say we're even :P

MMM blizzards, so good! I also love dogs (and cats) and always point them out while we are out!
My recent post Our First Runcation
Blizzards- love them!!! My new favorite is the confetti cake, but I would be happy with any flavor to be honest. Dogs- pretty much obsessed. Did I tell you that I am a crazy dog lady?

I've never read 50 Shades, and I've never watched Downton Abbey. I'm not a fan of creamer, or snorkeling. I enjoyed Lost but watched most of it on DVD. Buuut, I LOVE your dog! I have a black lab :) Can we bond over that?
My recent post She's a Little Bit Country, But That Day We Were Both a Little Bit Rock n Roll (Seattle RnR Part 2)
Well, I would've said creamer but lately it was making my tongue feel funny, so I stopped drinking it. Also, the hubs bought The Skinny Rules by Bob Harper, so....

I didn't dig Downton Abbey either, and I LOVE British TV and movies so I'm not sure what my deal is. I enjoy creamer in my coffee from time to time, especially vanilla and peppermint mocha!

Get ready for a long comment! :) I'm behind on the times too. I haven't watched Downton Abbey yet. I watched part of 1 episode with my roommate but I had NO idea what was going on.

Also, 50 Shades of Grey? Only made it through the first 2 books, and then I was burnt out because there were TOO MANY scenes. I went back to the Outlander series and when the first "scene" in that book appeared, I was just thinking "Everybody needs to stop DOING IT!!!". Yeah, I can't bring myself to finish the series.

Things we can bond over:
1. Blizzards: Uh, hi. Diabetes. Those things have enough calories and sugar to count for a full meal. I stay away.
2. Creamer: Yes please. Hazelnut is my favorite, but I think there is a coconut one that comes and goes. I REALLY like that one.
3. Lost - I totally understand why you would like that show. It's plot was so ADD. I made it through the first few seasons, but then it kept going off in such weird and random directions I could no longer follow.
4. Chocolate Labs: True story- From 3rd grade up to high school, I begged my parents to get me a black lab. I hid notes all over the house - in cupboards, drawers, wallets, coat pockets saying "I want a black lab" or "Please get me a black lab". They still show up from time to time, but alas, I never got a black lab.
5. Snorkeling - I don't go on enough tropical vacations to know... :(

Your parents are SO MEAN!!! :-) Why oh why did they deprive you of the loveliness of a black lab? And, spoiler alert, I already started 50 Shades and I HATE IT. Humongous post to come about that someday if I ever finish it. :-)
I love all of those five things except I have only been snorkeling once. I loved it though and can't wait to do it again when we go to Mexico in a couple of weeks.
I haven't seen Downton Abby yet and don't plan on reading 50 shades.
I still think you are pretty darn cool. If you said you hate oats or peanut butter or something...then the blog world really might disown you. I would still like you though. :)
My recent post Guess what?
Never heard of Downtown Abbey. Love the pet pics. Oh so cute:) Snorkeling is also one of my faves especially in the ocean in Hawaii! I have to say I love "Debbie Downer" she is hilarious! Hope you are enjoying the sun:)

Oh man, I hear you about being a Debbie Downer. Just yesterday I posted about how those stupid rompers make girls look like giant babies, and not one, but TWO of my Ragnar teammates chimed in about how they own and love rompers. Damn it! Bad teammate award, right here.
My recent post Oh where, oh where have my blog posts gone...
Violet Blue said 50 Shades was awful, so I took her word for it. She should know. I have ADD too, so I understand.

*goes back to re-read and look for more things to say*

Ah, yes! LOL Blizzards rock. Sting ray snorkeling scared me so much I got out to take pictures of everyone else and played it off like I was nice or something. And I'm glad to see you're doing the Seattle Half. That's my A race for fall. : )
My recent post I Could Have Had A V8
Let's talk about how I agree with you on everything, cool?

And girlfriend...I only got through 15 minutes of one episode of Downton Abbey. I don't know...I'm not a huge TV person, with the exception of shows that I feel obligated to come back and watch like Dexter, GG, and the Bachelorette (Sean xoxo)

Here's the deal with 50 Shades IMO. The writing is awful, the content is repetitive, and I think Ana bothers me more than Bella from Twilight, which is saying something. BUT, to be blunt...it's fun to read about sex with a beautiful man who knows what's up. If that's all you take it for...you'll be able to read it no problem.

-YES BLIZZARDS. Now I want one.
-I like creamer a lot too, although I'm somewhat lactose intolerant so I can't have it as much as I'd like.
-I NEED TO START LOST. Although I'm afraid I won't leave my couch for a week straight.
-LABS! I love them! I want to get a chocolate one and be super original and name it Chip.
-I love snorkling!!! I've done it in Kauai and Maui, and the turtles are seriously the best. I follow them around for as long as possible. Hopefully I can add Bali to the list!! :)

Happy Thursday!

Tell me everything about Kauai! When did you go there, where did you stay, what were your favorite activities, etc.! I REALLY REALLY want you to get a chocolate lab and name it Chip. I really want to name a yellow lab Captain.
Love and miss LOST! It was the best show, but I hated the ending. I do like Person of Interest. I also have a chocolate lab, Jameson who put a smile on my face everyday.

The ending was the WORST. I was so pissed! I love the name Jameson!
Cookie dough anything? Yes. Please. And puppies? Yes. All of them.

Also, I have to say that you may get bored with 50 Shades if you can't make it through the first 1/2 of book 1. I put it down for weeks before I finally picked it back up again and got through all of the slow (and um, strange) parts and got down to the real story (and well, some of the lack thereof).

Well I've never heard of Downtown Abbey so you're not at odds with me! I did like 50 Shades of Grey but only because it was kinda funny to read such a naughty book! As for bonding, I'm with you on the Blizzards but Crispy Crunch is my to-die-for favourite!
