Seattle RnR Marathon Training Week #11

Well, it's official.  I am finally TAPERING.  That's right folks.  11 weeks down, only 3 weeks of tapering to go.  I'm not going to lie, I am READY for this marathon to be over.  But that's another blog post in and of itself.  So let's see how I did this week:

Monday - 6.5 miles of lovely running on the beaches of Lincoln City.  Running on the beach with Cooper is one of the best things in the world.  It truly doesn't get much better than that.

Tuesday - 13 miles of biking at Interurban Trail in about 54 minutes.  This is NOT my favorite place to bike because a) it's not very pretty (it's very "urban" if you couldn't tell from the path's title), b) it's always a bit sketchy, and c) there's tons of stop and go at lights and intersections, but I was near there for work and I had too much work to do to drive somewhere nicer.

Wednesday - So busy but managed an after-a-terribly-long-day swim again this week around 9pm.  1 mile of swimming in 38 minutes, with a 600, 400, 300, 200 with 100 of kicking in between each.

On Wednesday this GINORMOUS frog greeted me on our porch when I went outside.  I may or may not have screamed.  It looked like a statue!

Thursday - Another less than stellar run.  I know I know, all you read about lately is how I'm sucking at running.  Trust me, I'm very tired of reporting that to you as well, and I've already started a blog post about it that just needs to be finished.  3 miles after work, then ate dinner, then 3 more miles after dinner with Cooper.

Friday - Thought I might get a swim in, but no time, because we were off to LEAVENWORTH right after work for an awesome weekend of wine walk-ing (more to come about that!).

Saturday - 16 miles through the streets of Leavenworth with Jordanne (for all of it) and Amy (for part of it).  Then tons of wine walking which we know burns tons of calories.

A little preview of the wine walking.

Sunday - JMan, Cooper, and I hiked Rattlesnake Ledge in Snoqualmie on the way back from Leavenworth!  It was LOVELY.  Beautiful views.  I'll tell you more about that too!  Man I have like 5 blog posts to write.

A little preview of the hike.

In conclusion, I ran 28 miles this week, I didn't do a speed workout, and I didn't do any yoga.  But I did bike and swim and run 28 miles, though I feel like I'm slowly but surely running slower and slower.

Annnnnnnnd I'll get to work on those 5 blog posts now!  Probably.

How was your week of workouts?  What was your biggest success this week and what do you need to work on this coming week?

Good luck with tapering, I always get so anxious and CRANKY during my taper. Like really cranky, pretty much bitch mode for 2 weeks. My poor husband, not. :-)

I worked out like a crazy person all week and did lots of lifting. My arms still feel "awesome" from lifting on Saturday. :-)

I can't wait to run, hopefully this week I can run some easy/slow miles.

This week I hope to work on actually running. That would be great. Too bad my shins started hurting this weekend after ellipticaling/biking/walking. I thought low impact was supposed to be okay! Before the hurt, I really thought I'd be up and running again this week! :(
Any snow on Rattlesnake ledge? I'm looking for snow free hikes to do once the weather gets nicer:) Your week looks great and way to get your swimming in! I have yet to step foot in the water:( Lame!

No snow at all! It was pretty busy even though it wasn't that nice too. I want to go back when it's sunnier!
Lots to work on- always. I had a pretty good week, but I was so TIRED. Blog post in progress, as always. That frog is enormous! The BF and I have Rattlesnake Ledge on our list of hikes to do, but after seeing the parking lot during the Mount Si Relay, I don't know if I want to contend with all the other hikers.....

It was really busy and it wasn't even that nice out!
I am SO ready for the taper to begin!!!!! I attempted a 20 miler on Saturday, I would've done 2 back-to-back {are you catching the WOULD'VE!?}..it was an epic fail! I was completely exhausted and only made it 10 miles...but I'm stubborn so I headed to gym for another 10 mile....I alternated between 2.5 on the ellitpical and 2.5 on the treadmill, ha! I got it done!! Let the taper begin!!!

Congrats congrats CONGRATS!!!!! Someday I will join you as a triathlete! :-)
I am obsessed with your dog. I have a dream of getting a chocolate lab and naming it Chip (chocolate chip....SUPER clever). And do you have any interest in going to Leavenworth during Oktoberfest? There is some racing that weekend...and I am thinking it could be a lot of fun. And by fun I mean going from a finish line to a beer garden in less than 3 minutes. My workouts were fine this week, but I'm pining for that post-run satisfaction that no other workout can really give. I did do a TWO HOUR super spin class on Saturday that was hard but really sweaty and surprisingly fun.

YAY TAPER, YAY CARBS, YAY RESTING. Embrace the taper, love the taper.

That frog would have scared the crap out of me. Still jealous of your trip to Leavenworth but I'm tres glad that you are tapering.
